Agree. The pleats should go, quickly followed by the shirt. You need a shirt that fits - then worry about the trousers.

Thanks for the heads up.  I took this shot first thing this morning and found that shirt on my chair (I recently bought 7 dress shirts and that white one is on my chair because I'm giving it away due to poor fit).  I didn't think to put on a well fitting shirt, or belt for that matter.  I just slipped on my beater loafers and that shirt and snapped the photo half asleep.  I will certainly do better next time.

As a few others have said in this thread, the slimness of the pants needs to be proportional to my jackets, and since most of my jackets are a little big (due to myself being so skinny) I think I'm going to have the pleated pants tailored to fit exactly like the grey flat front pants do and call it a day.  I'll know for future purchases that pleats do not work with me.

Pleats don't work for most men but lots of older and taller guys can pull it off especially If hey are not too wide in the waist amd overall skinny

All the slacks pictured seem to have a fairly long rise and therefore might look a lot better if you wore them higher on your waist, preferably with suspenders. If you're not financially ready to replace them yet, that might be a good way to extend their useable life.

Sorry mate they are too baggy. The light cream color one is the worst fitting. I think its the plates making them look even bigger .

You should try getting some MTM shirts, and get them without pockets.

The shirt looks dreadful, the pocket is way over size as well - as suggested above an iPod would fit in it. Burn the shirt.

The trousers look ill-kept - have they ever been pressed? That said they look dreadful and beyond redemption anyuone so I would suggest burning them and buying some whaaih have a pretence of fitting when first tried. Then you could crown the bonfire with the camera, why people post but then apologise for dreadful photographs but still expect decent advice amazes me,

The original pictures I posted where terrible (quality wise) but we were still able to see the fit.  Again, the shirt is garbage I only put it on because it was the first thing I saw.  I was trying to show the fit of the pants, not of the terrible shirt.

The most important part about understanding tailoring is the not the first impression, of the front because much of the time you can see who is looking.

But the back, because you cant see who is looking. Its nobodies business if you look like you bought yesterdays style for $20 at a clearance house. So its the back of the pant that is the most revealing to the detailing or fit. The slack should show some shape under the seat, even on a pleat and fall freely  without buckling from the bodies stance.

A proper fitting slack ( best in wool) will shape to the body without wrinkling. Rumpling may be pressed out.

See this site on tailored fit.

If you like you can upload your pix too for the next guy to see.

D.

Disagree. "Pleats are your friends" since you are taller and on the thin side, if pants are otherwise well-fitting and you wear them on your waist.

Tailoring and masculinity is objective. Fashion and femininity as well as planned obsolescence  is also not objective nor smart.

The object of tailoring is 3 things  proportion, practicality and self esteem. Big pleats are coming back but with tailored or tight tops.

So see that those pleats fall freely without opening while the back is trim slightly under the seat. The rise should be higher so that from the side the waist band is level front to back. With pleats the support is from the front so the pleats fall well. A fine wool will drape great! Enjoy
