Braces buttons on the outside of trousers...

I always thought that braces buttons were on the inside of trousers. What's your take on this look?

Actually, I believe that originally the buttons were on the outside and migrated to the inside when men started wearing more 2-piece suits and less 3-piece and DBs.

Outside is better. More comfortable, and a more secure attachment since they are sewn through the cloth as well as the waistband lining.

I wear them outside in front and inside in the rear so as not to stress the lining of my jacket.
