Slim suit for short guy -- DH or RLBL?

I'm 5'6" and like fashionable, slim suits. I don't wear suits a ton so longevity isn't a huge concern. I'm more concerned with the cut.

What would you recommend between the two Dior suits or RLBL? I'm assuming Dior is better quality from what I've felt, but I'm skeptical about how good they'd look on me (36S). Anyone in the know aware if Dior even makes short suits? Interestingly, I've finally found RLBL short suit sizes online, and am considering giving them a whirl. I'm happy their suits are made in Italy, and images of them look very good. I'm a little concerned that the leg openings for RLBL are 8" that seems kind of wide these days.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

8 inch leg opening is wide??????? That's on the very narrow end of what I'd wear.

Have you actually tried on a Dior suit? I'm the same height as you and wear size 34 and the one Dior suit I tried on a couple of years ago looked great on me.

8" leg opening is certainly not wide; I have some trousers which are narrower at 7.25-7.5", but 8" is probably about average for small sizes.

I have; the classic "drop 12" suit that they sell at Saks. It looked great on me but a little longish. Then I started to obsess.

I through in the 8" leg opening to rile people up. I realize it's not particularly wide, of course.

Dior if you're really thin and the jacket isn't too long on you. RLBL if you're, um, less thin. At your height, finding a short is probably a good idea.

8" leg opening is on the wider with this type of suit for your size and height.

I don't have any experience with DH, but have several RLBL suits.

I'm also short ~ 5'7-5'8 and find that the RLBL actually are cut relatively long compared to most other suits (or maybe it's just the sleek silhouette). I would definitely recommend short if you're going the RLBL route.

Not really a fan of the new RLBL... I'd stay away from that. I have no experience with Dior. Have you tried Zegna Milano? My favorite OTR suit cut so far, but I'm tall. It might work for you in a short. However, I'm not sure if they make a 36.

I have not but should give it a shot. Love their shirts and fabrics. Always assumed the suits would be too bulky.

I can't speak for RLBL in 36s because I have yet to find one after looking for a while. Care to share where you saw some 36s online?

I own a couple of DH suits in 46 euro. The jacket is a little long for me( 5'7") but within acceptable range. I keep wanting to shorten them by 1-inch or so but can never find the time to go to the tailor. The suit itself is very well made, fully-canvassed and cut razor sharp.

I don't have direct experience with RLBL or Dior, but I can say that I have seen Dior suits on eBay in short sizes.

I'm 5'4/5'5, and the 8" leg opening is about perfect for me.

36s and 38s in RLBL seem pretty rare. The SA at my local RL mansion claims that they only make a handful of RLBL solids in these sizes each season so they are extremely hard to get and pretty much don't go on sale, at least through RL. The few 36s I've seen have been on ebay. For 38s, the local mansion carries a few in striped but had no solids in either size.

To be fair, I bought into the RLBL SF craze a few years ago and have acquired 4 RLBL suits since that time. I'm starting to agree w/ some other posters that the shoulders and waist suppression are a bit overexaggerated, and the Milano from BB isn't a bad alternative if you're looking for a similar fit that is more subtle.
