The color may be salvageable with some polish but in their current state they say dated and bespoken for someone else's feets.

You can polish a black shoe with navy polish. Gdot first turned me onto this idea. At first there is no evidence of the tweak but over time the blue begins to peek out more and more. I have a pair of C&J captoes that I love because in certain light they are 100% black and in others they are 100% dark navy.

Yes but depending on how the shoes are initially dyed, one may have to build up a significant layer of blue to create this effect. I'd rather go blue and then antique it with black polish? For instance all of the EG shoes I've owned in black seemed to be super colorfast. I think they dye their blacks thru & thru.

Very true. It was not a quick process for me at all. Then again I wasn't looking for blue shoes, merely a way to spice up a pair of black, plain shoes that had fallen out of favor. If you're set on blue shoes then do blue shoes. If you're looking to experiment with blacks in a subtle way then I'd endorse the navy polish.

Knowing you/your style you'll get a lot more satisfaction out of antiquing navy shoes than trying to get navy polish to set in black shoes. Still, just thought I'd throw the option out there.
