Does this jacket fit?

Ok, I'm newish to traditional styling clothes.  I am recovering Banana Republic-aolic on about the 3rd step of the 12 step program.  I only own one suit, but I lucked out an got great advice at Saks and got a decent dark grey Corneliani.

That said, I don't really have a day-to-day need for suits.  Work is dressy casual with slacks and a sport shirt button down.  My wife is a recently graduated attorney, and I always feel a bit under dressed when I hang out with her co-workers.  Not that they're all well dressed, but I feel under dressed because I don't own any sport coats.

So, after reading around the style forum, I decided to hit up Ebay and see if I could find a decent odd jacket for a reasonable price.  I picked up the RLPL coat in the picture below for about $550.  I'm a tall lanky guy of about 6'2" 175lbs.  It was listed a 42L which is what I was fit in a suit previously.  I feel like the jacket fits, but I want a wider opinion.  I definitely need to get the back taken in, and, sort of unexpected, the sleeve buttons sewn on.

Anyway, let the bloodbath begin!

Seems to be a size too big...

I am pretty sure I disagree, though it's hard to say. To my eyes it looks kinda perfect in the shoulders. Maybe the rest would be great if taken in a bit like you said. You should also consider having the sleeves shortened by a quarter inch or so before having the buttons sewed on. Then you'd be able to show a teeny bit more cuff that way.

I'm heading to the tailor on Monday, so I'll see what he has to say as well.

The shoulders are really close, but the body is a bit baggy. I really like the coat though. It's a cashmir and silk blend that will work well in here in Texas.

Be sure to post in the WAYWRN thread once you get it back!

GOOOOAL!!. You basically scored a Hole-in One in your first attempt- To mix sports metaphors.
Very nice jacket. Fits you well. Don't succumb to the short, tight current fad, which will look like
as dated as a baggy 80s Armani suit in a few years.

Corneliani sizes tend to run a little roomier than normal, in my experience. I have a jacket of theirs that fits my measurements perfectly, but the sleeve diameter and drape seems to be significantly fuller than other jackets I own.

I have weird measurements. I'm like 19" at the shoulders, 39" at the chest, and  32" waist.

So I need a 42L in the shoulders and or the length, but it ends up too big in the chest and waist.

Shoulders look ok to me. The chest and waist look like they could come in a bit.

Looks nice. As you mentioned, it seems a little roomy around the middle. Have an experienced tailor look at it. He may take in the sides a bit. Also, sleeve length looks fine to me, but I don't like showing off a lot of shirt cuff.

Good luck on the recovery program.

It definitely appears the consensus is. . .that I need to go to a tailor.

We'll see what he has to say tomorrow. Thanks all for you input and have a happy New Year!
