Joe Meur's re-opens in Detroit

I see that Joe Meur's has reopened in Detroit. Some cursory research reveals the name was simply purchased by the Andiamo Group but I understand some of the staff have come back. I doubt it's anything like it used to be when it was on Gratiot but it's nice to see some life coming back to downtown Detroit. I noticed the shirt, tie and jacket rule absent from the web-site and valet parking is now optional.

Have anyone been yet? Can anyone compare it to the original?

I haven't been there yet but am interested in checking it out. I don't have high hopes though as I've never really found any of the restaurants that come and go through the RenCen to be all that great. But, I'm willing to give a new Muer establishment the benefit of the doubt and would check it out if I were in the area but I usually end up going somewhere much less refined when I am downtown.

In my mind though, the best Joe Muer place will always be The River Crab.

It's not a Muer place so just think of it as a new restaurant. However, I know someone who went and they said it was excellent so this may mean good things for the RenCen, finally. Many of the original favourites are still on the menu.

River Crab is nice but it's a casual place, this place (and the old Joe Muer's) is fine dining and can't really be compared to River Crab, they are totally different places.
