Yohji, Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Looser Fit (Yohji Yamamoto Thread) - Page 347

have to agree, as absurd as it should be, that fur coat does look quite charming there. is that DB jacket the speckled version ? it was far too shiny for my tastes despite being a black piece. i think i saw the Look 36 Bow Print LS Shirt but inverted colors ? looked too playful to be worn regularly haha

indeed it was the aw06 different iteration but you have the same. here's another one with the robe, with a rayon/wool Y's suit Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Y's for men dark grey striped suit in rayon/wool blend, thick and soft with nice drape

Very nice YFM suit btw. Thanks again for part 2 of my Mrs' Wedding Anniversary Present :worship2:

Which DB jacket? The Look 4 long jacket/coat is black 100 gabardine, the big shawl collar coat is this:- http://www.lagarconne.com/store/item.htm?itemid=21053&sid=1598&pid=1598

Black melton wool type fabric, thick and warm. None of them are shiny, must be the shop spotlights.

The shirt, if worn tucked in pants and under a blazer, is very nice I reckon. Excellent fabric compared with the standard cotton white inverted version.

My brief AW13 encounter a few weeks ago at Hervia.

YYPH AW13 Look 4 Strap DB Coat ( HQ-J24-100 ) - in black 100 wool gabardine, the safe choice. Size 3 oversized fit ( only worn over a Tee ), again like to compare with a sz 2. 6B DB closure, peak lapels, 2 additional side straps with 10 buttons each ( enable the coat to be worn open ), the sleeves have 2 working buttons + another 6 buttons up the arm, So total at least 40 buttons on this piece, OTT construction, but nice. £2030

YYPH AW13 Shawl Collar Coat - in black, forgot the code, 90/10 wool/nylon, very warm but very big in size 3. 4B DB closure with optional high collar finish £2100

come on.. this is not big... the level of the pocket its correct, the shoulders fall as they should.. why everyone is sizing down?

I'm sizing up.. Size 4

@Kiko, the Look 4 DB Strap Coat is fine in sz 3, the Shawl Collar Coat is truly too big, I wasn't wearing it, it's wearing me frown.gif

I do embrace totally YY oversizeness but sometimes if it doesn't fit ( properly ), it doesn't fit.

It is massive coat with purpose to protect you from wild, cold, rain etc, etc. Usually worn with suit underneath I would assume. I never doubted your use of volume but I'm quite curious how many of your runway pieces are getting daily wear. I know you love Yohji and his garments but you showing always new stuff and never repeated outfits. Is that the concept of wearing them too? Once and put to storage?

found few photos of big coats not sure if they mean anything smile.gif

^ i love the third and fifth photos !

i think (assume) david wears lots of stuff repeatedly but just shares new ones because otherwise we're just posting variations of the same thing :-)

speaking of variations on the same thing ... thanks kiko !

i'll try to wear it differently and take proper photos later when i get the chance

@Kiko I am flattered you show interest in my life, FYI 5 days a week I drive 30 mins to work, donning a tunic, 10 hrs later drive another 30 mins back home & collapse. Do I wear YY on a daily basis? No. Do I wear YY weekends and the odd nights out midweek, absolutely. YY is a hobby, a passion and an alter ego. My stuff are always stored, but never in storage.

@Zapatiste thanks for answering Kiko's question on my behalf, you are spot on smile.gif

My definition of Yohji-ness is ( mainly ) black, volume, proportions and comfort. For someone like me who is vertically challenged, one has to consider volume + length, I stand by my view that shawl coat in sz 3 ain't made for one my height and frame, it doesn't feel comfortable, so to me no matter how badass it looks, if it's not comfortable there is no point. But then that's just me, the world will be boring if we're all the same.

@cupper good to know you're still around smile.gif

I just found these great YYPH boots, and I'm wondering if anyone knows what season they might be from. Also, to me they look like a YYPH/Dr.Martens collaboration. However, they are apparently made in Italy, so maybe not. I'll find out in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime, I thought I would see if any of the resident experts can satisfy my curiosity:)

Even Yohji;s dog is cool. Black and white color scheme

Got to match the lifestyle

In reply to the discussion of oversized coats, the big wool coat I posted a while ago seems quite similar in shape to the one David posted above, though the lapels are different. I asked my partner about the distinctive shape of the coat I have which, as I mentioned in a previous post, seems to have extra wide shoulders relative to the width of the body. She thought that it was reminiscent of a style of 19th century greatcoat, though I can't remember the details.

My interest was mainly regarding the daily use of yohji, not your personal life but I guess it helps what you said. Anyway thanks for the detailed timetable smile.gif now make more sense. Hopefully you will be able to wear those wonderful garments more with the time because it is real shame for them to be hold as collectables.

Arche those are aw04 I believe.
