Yohji, Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Looser Fit (Yohji Yamamoto Thread) - Page 329

This is related but slightly OT: does or has anyone used the Yohji Homme perfume? It's discontinued now, but perfume expert Luca Turin raves about it and gives it 5 stars in his guide to perfumes. There's a couple of discussions about it here -

Does it work as a Yohji aesthetic in scent form? I love what Commes des Garcons, for example, does with perfumes and how they relate to their bigger picture. Perfume is dressing the air around you so I'm curious as to what Yohji-air smells like.

my word, such accusations being levied above ! fanstastic fit, david, especially the polypropylene mesh hat, perhaps a 21st century take on the straw of days past

very nice read, thanks. also interesting to see to what extent he is involved in y3, he personalizes the whole project to an extent that makes me rethink what has been rumored about these parts, in terms of how much involvement there is...more freedom to move about in those projects versus his own mainline.

funny that he mentions the synthesis of japanese and germana works, and these are two creative forces from those respective countries.

also excited about wender's project on Salgado, his volume on Africa was nothing short of inspirational for b&w photography.

Anybody a size 42? I got these size 3 YYPH boots off yjp and was hoping they'd fit a 43, but I think I need a 4. They've got an inconspicuous side zip and a great slim silhouette. They come with tags, bag and box and appear to be new. From 2011, according to the auction.

Was a bit disappointed by Yohji Homme. On my skin all I got the whole way through was rum and spice...and that's about it confused.gif On paper it had woods poking through in the dry down, and a slight liquorice note, but yeah, flat on me. I think it needed something to undercut that sweetness, but I assume the woods would do that if they came through on my skin. Yohji Senses on the other hand, with the yuzu and pear seemed perfect for this season's Spring/Summer collection. Will have to give the rest a try.

Saluting summer....at last.

YYPH SS10 Hat - ( HJ-H03-965 ) - in black 100% polypropylene mesh, 65/35 polyester/polypropylene black ribbons+bow.

YYPH SS13 Look 9 Pleated Panel Blazer - ( HX-J17-806 ) - in black, 100% superfine rayon, size 2 very loose fit ( unlike SS12 ), mind-blowing construction. Unlined, 3B closure, buttonless sleeves, shoulder pads. Notch lapels, shoulder panels ( unequal, patchwork at the back ), button/buttonhole plackets in 100% heavy cotton to provide structure. Multi pleated front panels ( give so much volume ) with diagonal off-white blocks, flapped bottom pockets. Double split long, unequal length back panel allows different silhouettes by knotting the corners. Pictures don't do justice to this cloud-like piece. Fabric + tailoring epitomized.

YYPH SS11 Look 9 Cropped Pants - ( HO-P45-980 ) - Size 2, 100% interlocked cotton in black, elasticated waist with belt loops + horn button closure, horn-button fly. Deep front + rear patch pockets. Elasticated hems.

YYPH SS10 Asymmetrical SS Tee - ( HJ-T15-856 ) - Size 3, fine, soft hand 100% cotton. 2/3 front left + 1/3 left back + left sleeve in black/white stripes with contrasting plain black fabric for the rest. Unequal, asymmetrical neck + hem seams.

Y's AW06 suede/canvas hi-top sneakers.

Those are great pants and being from ss11 I might still be able to find them on yjp biggrin.gif

Thanks Parker for the kind words smile.gif

It's MADNESS you're selling the AW04 Madness zip blazer? Sometimes the willingness to let go is more admirable than the urge to acquire.
the cropped pants look with that blazer makes for a very different silhouette, pretty amazing ! makes me wish more and more rex wasn't so fast in unloading his stock :-p

i believe mr parker got rid of a pair of pants as well that i had been looking at, similar to my ss12 but a bit darker and made of thicker wool. so i guess not really that similar aside from the frayed seams, something that always throws off whatever company i'm with (accusations that my pants are worn inside-out!)

snowman you really should grab them if you ever come across them !
