The gravitational pull of this thread is impressive.

Idk... can we get Yohji to post next maybe ?

I'd like to get one of these coats. I don't know if I'm in love with any of them. Any comments would be appreciated. I think I like a couple of Ivwri's coats from the last few fit pics better than any of these.

(The second one has an incredible print pattern on the back. The front view is kind of bland.) Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Besides availability is the price generally less in Japan?

Caveat - If it's any help, I have the first and last coats on my wish list smile.gif. But overall, I think it depends on what exactly you're looking for. The cut of the khaki brown-colored coat looks pretty interesting actually, just not in an obvious way in the video it looked pretty cool. And also, the surprise cubist elements at the back could make for interesting conversation at least. If you are looking for something long, then your choice is an obvious one I feel, otherwise, I doubt you could go wrong with any of them. That first one is really calling me though icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Thanks for posting that video Guy Burgess. Completely forgot about it, it's a good interview just a shame it didn't finish if I remember correctly? Or maybe your version is different.

thats.mana - Yeah, the prices are definitely less in Japan. Like asobu said, it's about 40% or so. When we compared with the UK prices earlier on in the thread it was a bit better if you took VAT off, but yeah, certainly cheaper even if one factors in shipping (especially if you're buying multiple pieces).

How do the prices compare to US prices? I'll be in NYC in March... but will make a detour to Tokyo if I have incentive biggrin.gif

None of the US retailers have gotten their stock for this season yet so I don't actually know how they compare. I do know that Japan is supposed to have the cheapest prices overall though.

Maybe asobu or wire could shed some light on this?
^^30-40% more expensive in the US compared to Japan, I'd guess. Jackets and coats seems to have leveled out over the last few seasons, ranging from 60k-ish to 160,000 yen approximately. Pants are more expensive this season, most hakama pants are around 75k yen (even in gabardine) which is quite high in comparison to previous seasons and some of the ninja pants go over 100k which I think is a first. Shirts seem to me to be priced around the same as before, perhaps even slightly cheaper?

Either way you should go to Tokyo, it's awesome. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

edit: it should be noted that some of the hakama pants are cheaper at around 40,000 yen, quite reasonable.

Guess who's going to Tokyo.

Sweet! I really need to get off my ass and do something about planning a trip to Japan. I guess my fear is that I might not want to come back to Nigeria lol8[1].gif

nope you're right unfortunately.

damn, if some of this stuff is around 40000 yen then it's reasonable even for me and my monopoly money!
