Yohji, Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Looser Fit (Yohji Yamamoto Thread) - Page 172

Got my YY jacket in today!! It's a sort of deconstructed jacket with a lot of exposed seamwork. The fabric is super soft and thicker than I expected, so perfect for fall in a couple months. Fits long in the sleeves and body, but not too wide. All in all I think a good piece to get me used to more volume in my clothes biggrin.gif especially while I wait for the hakamas to come in icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Will post pics later when I'm not dashing off to class!

it looks real different in terms of styling in the runway shot...

Yup, that's the one. The runway shot you posted is the cotton iteration which is really soft. In a way I wish I got the linen one because it looks much nicer closed than the cotton one which does not hold its shape as well (still has its own charm though, just harder to "dress up"). They styled the linen one on the runway in a similar fashion on one of the last looks.

Really nice coat david, would also love to see that fit paired with some boots. Hopefully someone gets their hands on the look 10 hakama pants and/or coat from the family sale. Still don't have a medium-length gabardine coat and I would love to own one that I can wear about here when it is not so hot.

Neo, that is so nice. I think the tucked in tee makes it for me. Just the right amount of casual paired with that jacket. Wish my wool gab hakamas were as long as that icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Looking forward to your pics fireflygrave. Always a good feeling getting a new Yohji piece, hehe.

Received this amazing knit from Wire.Artist aka Yoda so roadtested it straight away

YYPH SS08 Look 32 Knit ( HM-K05-160 ) 100% wool, Size 3 ( OS ) - you cannot tell it's wool, absolute masterclass in knitting. Large crew neck, buttoned shoulder tabs, very light weight and airy. The body consists of random uneven bands throughout, the darker ones more like double layer, the lighter bands are fishnet like. Lazy silhouette with irregular hem, long sleeves with thumb holes and 3D adaptable palm and finger pads. Truly delicate piece with random micro-tears throughout giving a battered vibe.

YYPH SS08 Look 2 Cargo Pants ( HM-P70-091 ) - posted before, size 3, 100 cotton, the most complicated construction for a trouser, adjustable lower leg width, 87 buttons in total, terrific fabric and silhouette.

Y's AW08 Contrast Stitch LS Tee ( ME-T01-053 ) - posted before, size 2, 100% thin cotton, white contrast stitched crew neck

Y-3 Hejarklack Hi-top sneakers

Wire saw my fit pics and said I need to show fellow SF members the depth of talent of YY knitwear. Whilst I'm quite discreet and a traditional all black YY man in most cases, he is right in doing the piece justice. So here's an alternate fit with a less serious vibe:-

YYPH AW05 LS Tee ( HN-T50-063 ) - 100% medium weight cotton. The construction of the knit can be fully appreciated with a contrasting background

Y's for men SS03 Pants ( MQ-P10-103 ) 68/32 wool/rayon, posted before, elasticated waist ( PJ style ) with belt loops, the most flowing fabric I have ever handled.

Y's AW06 Hi-top sneakers.

^ wow, the white tee really brought that knit to life (at least in the small photos. I'm sure you can see the detail in the black-on-black setting fine in person). both combos look great to me. nicely done, david!

today, I'm wearing coming soon cotton jacket and wool/linen pants. new mtm hidden placket long shirt in the style of damir. white stans. this may be another mixed metaphor look, but I liked the graphic blocking. anyway, at least neo looks aweome!

the jacket is kinda fun. one side is a patch pocket, notch lapel. the other is a flap pocket, peak lapel. :-)

Very good fit as always Parker, the way you pull off Coming Soon is second to none. Without sounding offensive, you make CS punch above its class for sure ( I have a few CS as well remember ). The jacket sounds cool construction wise, hybrid style, even YYPH doesn't have this iteration/derivative if I am not mistaken. The pants are wool/linen blend? Almost contradictory in their intended seasonal applications, what does it feel like?

Thanks for the comment btw. The knit was layered under a blazer on the Runway, again demonstrating such greatness in his shows, every piece was meticulously conceptualized.

thx d. these Coming Soon pants are very light and drape super well. def. a spring weight fabric. too light for winter. they may be my favorite of all my Yohji pants. (!) I have two pair -- black and navy.

indeed, seems like a lot of the cool knits get hidden under coats and jackets on the runway.

Wow mr parker that is very nice, and very much what I envision when I attemp to mix in damir stuff!

Mr lee it's too hot for knits but I agree the white adds just that much more to the see thru effect!

sorry Mr Parker, but this look didn't appeal to me. My first thought was "executive chef". I think the layering of the two woven pieces looks uncomfortable. I know the disproportion of the white shirt is the statement, but it doesn't look nice with the loose black pants and white sneakers.

If you really like the shirt, maybe instead of a tailored jacket, wear a knit cardigan in dark grey and the same length as the shirt. Loose pants in navy with a pattern like pinstripe or windowpane.

The jacket is a really cool piece ,though

@parker i think you should dye this jacket black!will much nicer and not so "new", the lapels and pockets are pretty cool!

that's what i wear pretty much every day, plus the matching suit jacket.

Plus if I hadn't come clean, some may have thought they are high-end stuff anyway.

On the shoes. it's not actually the make or the high/low-endedness, just the design which struck me as blobby, with a not very nice sole. (BTW, the haircut was just an aside, I'm aware people have all kinds of reasons for their hair being how it is... apologies if you were offended)

Parker - can you actually do up the Coming Soon jacket (if you wanted to)? I ask because I just got hold of a CS jacket and although it was claimed that it was a size larger than stated, it clearly isn't, if anything it is smaller than I would have expected. It looks okay if I don't try to button it but I am wondering whether to return it...

What size is yours and how does it seem to relate to normal Yohji sizing? Yours certainly doesn't seem to be 'larger' on you, in fact it look a very good fit in conventional terms.

No you haven't offended me at all, I'm too old to be bothered. Whereas an edgy hairdo can undeniably give an extra oomph to a look, I have to be conventional in that department due to my day job I'm afraid.

As for the shoes, the blobby-ness was intentional and whilst they were not the last word in style, they certainly didn't " kill " the whole set-up imo, degraded it probably. Anyway the world will be boring if we all have the same opinion.

Looks like you neeed to post a pic with your YY or CS to share some info. nod[1].gif
