Ivwri, I am actually very envious of your handstitched pants  If there is a chink in yours truly's Yohji armour, it is the lack of matching pants for the blazers I have. Sometimes matching pants are the Yohji Boosters! I was bidding on a pair last year, leading all the way, then went out thinking they're in the bag only to discover a bidding war 10 mins from the end ( the stupid Y! time extensions kicked in ) and no way can my Japan Proxy react fast enough....so gutted. Anyway are there pockets by the lower leg of your iteration? Just wonder what if they are too long ( not for you of course ) will that pocket look odd i.e. by the ankles?

 

Parker, you had me figured out regarding the meticulous colour co-ordination between boots and Tee

lol i was supposed to be ... and i didn't ilke the contrast of the rings with the suede in black version. but these are great and were had for less than baller price

i wish i could do the pants justice, that photo actually sucks. the fabric is much softer than one would expect given the canvas-y cotton, it moves around quite nicely, and i am more comfortable wearing them to take care of business than the hakamas even though i'm now out of the cool kids hakama club

Mr Parker was that photo taken on the outside? Thought the copper panels would've turn more green by now due to the oxidation.

I like what I can see of the suit, and I like the overpants. I'd probably like the shoes with the suit and the hat, or the overpants with a different kind of suit underneath. But all together, it's a collision not a marriage. I wonder whether a darker suit would make it work better, but I think fundamentally it is because the suit and the overpants come from a completely different aesthetic tradition and sometimes attempts at fusion just don't work - I think the only way it would work would be to wear the overpants with a suit that was cut with the same kind of fit in mind as Yohji, or perhaps completely the opposite - i.e. really skinny (not sure about that though), but certainly not with a what is a pretty conventional western cut. I really appreciate the fact that you're prepared to experiment and do things that almost no-one else would do here, and you get it right so often, but this comes across as funny rather than cool.

Thanks cupper, it's all about info sharing and if you like the pieces I possess you can gather the information I provide to buy/bid with confidence in auctions etc if you see them. As long as no one minds, the show will go on for a bit haha aka " The Wall Post ".

thx, cupper. that's in the interior courtyard, so I guess it is not as exposed to the elements. the panels are still kind of fresh. the exterior of the building is a really dark brown/charcoal now, no green yet. it's a pretty cool building and striking in its size and presence in the setting. there was a lot of opposition to tearing down the old mission style structure, but i'm so glad they did. it's one of my favorite places in the city.

:-) totally understand. I like to experiment, not always with success. you're right, a more yohji cut suit or jacket at least would make it more coherent. I was going for something like these, but trying to make do with what's in my closet.

i would have to agree parker. the suit it's quite "stiff" for those cover pants and look like it's been trapped between them and the hat. also on the second reference you see how the cover pants are much shorter than yours. anyway, nothing wrong with trying stuff out, hopefully you felt great in the outfit.

 

here it's the suit fit. there are few things i'm not 100% happy about. the pants are the one from look 1 not the full length version and they are shade darker. i assume the jacket was washed by the previous owner and faded little bit. the fabric it's very delicate! i will wash the trousers and see if they will change, however the purpose of the suit it's more as "art" piece rather than garment, i might wear it only couple of times per year. 

 

ps: the bomber jacket belongs to my boss (errolson hugh). purchase back in 2004? from hl munich flagship store. the most amazing bomber jacket i've seen in my life.
