Yohji really seemed to have a lot of fun in that period of time, doing the menswear collection in FW1998 with women instead of men (really need pictures or a video of this colelction), the wedding collection strip tease for women and this one you just linked. I wonder whether he will go back to doing these or whether the new investors will keep them out due to the cost involved.
One thing I have always liked is Yohji's sense of humour and irreverence when it comes to the whole business of fashion. It comes through so well in his clothes and in his attitude as a person. Really looking forward to the AW2012 collection next week even more now.
EDIT - I should also add that that video just reinforced my decision to wear a longish coat over a skirt (with and without trousers underneath) even more. Great look like Parker said. Would like to see those long coat/robe/gown pieces that the guys wore under their coats in person. They looked really cool.

That would be great but I guess not. He did some clearly different takes on runway shows in the late 90's (98-00) but from SS01 and onwards they have all been the regular runway standard fare more or less. From what I can tell, he was using a lot of older models for pretty much every show between 91 and SS 2001 (ss96 being the notable exception with teenage boys) but after that only used regular young models up until SS09 when he started again and kept those since then. A welcome change. Looking back, YYPH SS09 really feels like it could've been intended as his last show in a way and I guess/think he was pretty close at one point to perhaps stop designing but he definitely seems to have gotten renewed energy after 2010 and that whole reconstruction affair.

Glad you liked the show btw!

Yeah, I am happy that he has found renewed energy to continue designing and hopefully this plus the new investors should hopefully bring him back to the limelight before he finally retires. Like I discussed with you a while back over PM, I am not sure who will be a worthy successor to his design and design philosophies whether within the YY group itself or outside it. Would be nice if in his twilight years he influenced someone or some people to try and take his philosophy further. God knows I need to have a designer to wear into my own twilight years biggrin.gif

I have been quite surprised that they still have so much stuff from that season left as well. A lot of it is pretty good too! There's a Y's shirt I am eyeing on there. As soon as things get back to normal here and I can get money on my card, I will be picking it up.

I doubt they're going to be stocking newer season stuff considering the lack of any 2011 buys, and as far as I have seen, both SS and FW11 sold decently on the various e-stockists that picked it up. I made a note that it is mainly old season stuff on WW in the OP. Maybe if we can clear out their stock it may give them an incentive to pick up FW12 if it is too late to stock any SS icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

With regards to shoes, I also have some trouble finding nice shoes to go with my Yohji pants. I cheat when I can by buying Yohji shoes, but I also find that Augusta and Marsell have design aesthetics and toe shapes that go well with Yohji outfits and from what I've seen from fit pics, Carpe Diems as well. Since you are looking for shoes and not boots, you could check out these Marsell on Farfetch - http://www.farfetch.com/shopping/men/marsell/cat-shoes/items.aspx and see whether anything there is to your taste. They are sold on a fair few sites and can get pretty reasonable on discount.
These in particular are suede, but not sure whether you are looking for something in that colour.
Boots are a bit easier as you can just get boots similar to what Yohji wears himself - Dr. Martens, Red Wings and similar chunky boots go excellent with his pants.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, I'll look into a more rounded toe.
Loving my pants, comfortable as hell, was wearing them as pj's last night.

If you're looking for Marsell, check out The Corner. They have a bunch on sale right now.

Glad I could help smile.gif.

Which pants did you get? And yeah I also get tempted to wear a lot of my Yohji stuff as loungewear. Lol.

You could also check out Rakuten's selection although I haven't ordered from there before so maybe using a proxy would be easier.

SS12 is also hitting stores very soon and like I posted earlier in the thread, if you buy from Japan, you can save quite a bit. Should hopefully be able to put up the SS12 catalogue this weekend (will be using my phone for now as my scanner is out of reach for the moment) so that anyone's who's interested can match pieces to their product codes. The photos are of the runway so no detail shots or fabric composition details unfortunately.

the waist on those size 3 says "14,17". Is this possibly 17.14 inches? I'm a 33-34" and would think a 3 would normally work?

Not sure about those measurements, but it's possible that the elastic on the sides might allow for some stretching. Probably best if you email them to confirm the measurements as those are cut slimmer than normal Yohji so I can't say for sure.

I went with size 3, usually 30-31. I was expecting to almost swim in these but they fit perfect.

Yesterday, actually! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif At least in Japan.

Which means they now posted the new collection on the official page, so for anyone who hasn't watched the runway show video yet:

Are those from the Yohji store in London? The difference between these prices and the Japanese prices is crazy frown.gif.
