Yohji, Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Looser Fit (Yohji Yamamoto Thread) - Page 112

Ok collection to me was stellar. Need to have a proper look and think about it, but on first impressions, the pants were ALL killer. From smart and cropped to floaty and flowing. Those prints looked like boro? The indigo was spot on and looks expensive as all heck. Loved the jacket in the first look. The strings and te way it hung open were just fantastic.

Yohji showing up at the end with a black eye was the icing on the cake, hehe. Explains why they were late I guess, models and Yohji got in a fight with hooligans ripped a couple of shirts and still had the presence of mind to dress up for the show wink.gif

Yohji had also text "FOR SALE" made of red fabric in his back. I managed to meet him and spoke few words! I will post more later today perhaps!

As they say around here, that was "hella good". So happy Yohji continued with the hakama pants and soft layers theme (vs doing something retro-historical like SS11). At first glance, I love looks 5, 6 and 25. The mix of super flowy pants with soft blazers is great and the color palette is super refreshing! is that purple, salmon and orange in look 37 :-) ??

A couple observations: no hats and no "real normal size" models. Maybe they all got beat up by the tall guys. happy.gif

kinda random, but anyone know these models' names perchance? trying to get some haircut ideas and these look like good candidates, but i'd prefer to find pictures that don't make the dudes look beat up redface.gif
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

So what is the full story behind beat-up Yohji + models?

Yeah, I was saying in the s/s runway thread that I really like Yohji's color choices. They're very soft, so to speak.

yeah, saw that. Also your footwear comment which I agree with. I think it's been mentioned before but simple (i.e. non-baller) shoes can work great with Yohji's ideas. Common flat canvas sneakers (like chucks, vans, etc) are a nice low-profile, casual contrast to the rich, volumunious and patterned pants and suits. You can always opt for the designer versions if you want higher quality or something with a little bit different details... but the concept is still the same.

Man, that gradient-dye orange in #10 is something else.

I really enjoy the range of volumes going on here, particularly with the trousers. It's a bit "best-of" in some cases: for example, I'm sure I've seen the jacket in #26 before, but it's interesting to see Yohji referencing fits and styles from multiple past seasons, and the results are very nice.

i really want to see the video, can't really decide if i like it or not from the photos. the string details it's quite cool, also the gathering on the front it's nice as well. pretty sure they are much more back details that are missing due to the fact no one shoots back of the models... glad two of missoni's models made it to the show, especially berthold.

found photo of the jacket with "for sale" stitching. wwd started conspiracy already if this had any meaning bla, blah. i guess it's just yohji's humor.

off topic: looks like yohji it's having exhibition in israel very soon. quite interesting and bad quality photos on here - http://www.facebook.com/DesignMuseumHolon

YYPH SS13, missed the video, judging by the pictures, the fabrics seem very cool, some jackets were cut quite slim and sleeves way short for my liking. The coats are something else though. Need to see the video to form a sensible opinion.

The design museum in Holon is pretty cool. I was there last year and they had an innovation in textiles exhibit. They showed a Junya Watanabe x Dyson project which was the highlight for me - lots of robots wearing robes - as well as a bunch of experimental fabrics and stuff from young designers. I have some photos somewhere.

Yeah, david, I also noticed the suit jackets from the new collection are pretty trim and worn fitted. Some even have normal length sleeves! :-) But, all those details are pretty neat and I love the coats, too.

Just to keep the regular guy fits going, here's a semi Yohji outfit on me today: SS12 army cap, Gap shirt, Richard Chai waxed cotton jacket, SS09 cotton-ramie sailor pants, SS12 indigo canvas sneakers. not sure if it's working together, but I'm comfy on this breezy day.

great fit parker, looks so relaxed. would be great to see some face expression if possible as sometimes fit posts with hidden face looks quite flat to me. but again, your hair and posture are more than enough to turn the flat fit into something cooler.

i've received yohji jacket, which was supposed to be yyph but it's not! it'a actually from women s/s 2003. it's size 3 and fits like yyph size 4! 100% cotton with belt across the back (not waist level). i've got 3 options now: keep it and wear it as it's fit quite cool, give it to my gf or sell it on ebay and fund actual yyph garment...
