Wow, david, pretty glad to see that jacket like this. Would not have known it had pleats at the back like that. Looks really cool I think.
I completely missed seeing both the opening and closing ceremonies live which was pretty disappointing, but hopefully I can catch up on YouTube. Great to hear that Madness performed anyway even if they were not in Yohji

Thanks for the comment. It goes to show his Runway shows have lots of depth in the pieces chosen. A layering piece has so much going for it. It was a total random find on Y! with no Runway pics ( Asobu is an expert noticing the great stuff from un-assuming looking auctions )

It's worth checking on BBC iPlayer instead of YouTube for a replay of the Olympics programmes.

Yeah david, iPlayer only works from the UK unfortunately. We can browse the lost of programs I believe but not stream anything. I have successfully been able to do so with a proxy before though so I will try that again and see whether it works. This whole licensing and distribution thing really gets annoying. I was once only able to buy the first part of an eBook on Amazon.co.uk and the second part on amazon.com. The second part was not licensed yet in the UK and more absurdly, the first part was not licensed for release in the US. Crazy.

As for Shui, well I think he is pretty interested in fashion and it is not as if Yohji is necessarily en vogue at the moment and he seems to genuinely enjoy his work from the conversations I have had with him on tumblr, even before he started wearing pieces by him. If he doesn't wear him for much longer then well, he has provided some cool pics with Yohji clothing in them at least, hehe.

rottweiler sweatshirt with production cost around 20 euros and sold for x15, worn with yohji garments, it's probably against what he (yohji) it's trying to teach/show/achieve. but it's not my business anyway, everyone it's free to wear whatever they want to.

same could be said regarding production costs for just about every other designer/brand out there these days, even yohji.

not on the same level though. because with yohji pieces you can see where the production cost goes and when it's shipped outside japan, where the import taxes goes. you don't have that with the givenchy printed circus, i'm sorry. and also my point it's far from analyzing the margin of certain brands.

so he's not allowed to wear yohji because he has a givenchy sweatshirt? this is on some sz level elitism.

This kinda raises an interesting point. The cotton jersey shirts from ss12 could not have been very expensive to make, but they were sold in the US for more than $600 a piece. The designs weren't particularly intricate either. Wool gab pants were only slightly more. Wonder why the jersey was so much. Would've bought a shirt but the cost was prohibitive.

Obvious. Margin still seemed much greater for those than for other pieces from that season.
