Brown Beater Boots

I'm looking for some brown beater boots.

I was probably gonna go with the Allen Edmonds Bayfield, but I heard they're being discontinued and I can't get to an AE until mid January.

Anything in similar price range?

Do I want a rubber or leather sole? A combo like the Bayfields? I want to be able to wear them in bad weather (not terrible weather though). Any other ideas?

Are they for work? What will you be wearing them with?

Not for work. Probably Jeans, Corduroys, etc.

I really want to be able to throw them on and not really care about them.

AE has online orders you know

If you mean the same price range as the Bayfield's regular price, how about some Red Wings? The 9016 or the 9030 look pretty good. Also, Wolverine 1000 mile boots are nice, and like the Bayfield, are made with Chromexcel leather. But they do have a leather soles, so I'm not sure if they are great for bad weather.

None of those have my size. First one is expensive.

I'm not familiar with this brand. Any word on them?

My brother got the Wolverine 1000 Mile boots for Christmas. They are really very nice and I personally like them better than the Bayfield. There are threads here and on AAAC about them holding up very well in bad weather, but (as has been previously stated) the leather sole is not ideal for traction in snow/ice. That said, you can have them resoled to a commando sole or have a rubber topy put on if you think you really need it. People have reported good results with both. If revolve clothing has your size, you can use the new customer discount to get 30% off. There is also a cap-toe and wing-tip version of the boots if it suits your fancy, but I highly recommend getting the brown chomexcel regardless of style.

I have a pair of made in the USA blake welted Frye boots that have served me well for three PA winters. Couldn't be happier with them.

What about Trickers on STP when they go on sale: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/trickers~b~1917/

Around xmas they dropped to ~ $300.

I was tempted to grab some bayfields a while back but there were posts on the AE threads that the eyelets break or fall off after a while.

I have the Bayfields and they're great. Scratches disappear with some conditioner and I think it was only one person that had the eyelet problem. At the new discounted price they're a steal.
