Old English Shoemaker making shoes from garage

I remember reading a thread about 5 months ago about an old man in England that made shoes out of his garage and people were ordering from this site.... Does anyone remember his name or link for the thread...( I cannot find it for the life of me). There was extensive discussion on where he had previously worked and if he was legit or not...and it turned out it was extremely impressive. Please PM me if you dont want to post in this thread as I remember there was about a 6 month wait for his shoes. I want to place an order!!!!! Thanks!

That's what I thought, although I would have said it without the THAT! Never met the man, but from pictures I would think he is in his forties.

His company is now called "Clarence Clifford" with a website 'coming soon'.

Must tell you, I ordered a pair of balmoral boots last september 2010 from mr. roberts, he finished the pair in may but he made a mistake in the styling of the boots so he agreed to redo the boots and come this september, a year later, he made the exact same mistake again! He even told me how he changed the pattern and all this nonsense, but for whatever reason the boots came out the exact same way. What's worse is he offered a full refund and now 3 months later I'm still waiting for it to magically appear. I've sent countless e-mail and still not response, I will try again after the holidays but the customer service has been abysmal. Needless to say, I cannot recommend using him even though there are many happy patrons on this forum.

biggrin.gif.  True indeed.  He's probably younger than I am, but some people may consider anyone over 30 to be "old", hence my comment.

Thanks for the heads up about the website.
