I have these mills as well and second your points.

Only thing I have that I would consider nice is flatware and severeal sets of plates. I kind of getinto moods where I just want to buy one thing and in this case it was plate sets.

Rest of my kitchen is BedBathand Beyond crap. Have not reached baller status yet. Give me a few more years dammit!

We have a couple different Peugeot s/p mills (that have a number of adjustments) - does this go more coarse?

Look for the special pricing on starter sets, then watch for sales and promotions on new or special pieces. If you keep an eye out for them you can get good deals over time.

Keep in mind too promotions that are thrown in with $ amount purchases or registry purchases. From All-Clas we received 2 free au gratin pans and a dutch oven.

What's with the microwave hate? Don't you guys ever have left-overs?

yes, but I've found that warming in the oven produces superior results.

Fair enough -- and I admire your patience!

I rarely use a microwave. They are mostly a waste of space but occasionally nice to have. I could definitely live without one. I use them for things like defrosting a lb of ground beef on the rare occasion I use frozen ground beef (for things like making tacos) from the freezer. These days I tend not to store stuff like that. I just buy it when I need it, as I don't eat it that often, so I use a microwave even less than in the past. I'd say I use it less than once per month.

I always wanted to have a small built in microwave in my bathroom. To warm towels. For shaving purposes. ~ H
