Choosing an Office Chair for Home - Page 2

Thanks for the help. Checking out the other chair selections now... yikes, a bit out of my price range. I'm trying not to go over $1,000. And I've got to have the adjustable height arms. The Meda chair looked to fit the bill, until I got to the $2K tag....

Off to look over the two websites mentioned.

I absolutely love my Knoll life chair. I suggest it. I also suggest using Craigs list to find an ergonomic chair. At least in my area, there are generally a couple lightly used ones available in office liquidation sales, or from people moving out of state with no room to carry it with them.

I got my Knoll life chair from a guy whose business was moving to San Fran for some 200 or so bones. I think this thing retails $1000. It's such a pleasure to sit in.

Checking Craig's list is a good idea, thanks. The Life Chair looks good as does Steeplechase's Think Chair. However, my realtor now has me staging the house since we're trying to sell. The upshot is furniture is going into storage -- nothing new until we move

My favorite task chair is still the Teknion Contessa, though it may not find favor with your aesthetic tastes. (I think it looks better than the Aeron in addition to being more comfortable, though.) Another one not mentioned here (perhaps because it's a bit overexposed, finding a place on practically every TV show made from 2002 to the present) is the Humanscale Freedom chair. Very comfortable over the long haul and very well made, though I prefer the modern meshes to traditional upholstered padding.

Nice chair, The Contessa. I like the way the controls are located in the armrests. A bit out of my price; but if I can find a good deal, this will make the final cut. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback.

I just purchased this chair (first link) - others can be found at the second link.

Send me a message if you are interested in purchasing as I bought out of state for a decent discount.

Nice looking stuff here, but I've got to have adjustable arms. Afraid that I'm doomed to a modern task chair. Thanks.
