best men's trench coat (dust coat) brands?

Burberry and Aquascutum stuff are pretty expensive. Besides, considering these 2 brands' recent troubled history(sold to various owners during a relatively short period of time), I don't feel like buying their products. How about Brooks Brothers? Any other brands that are famous for men's trench coat?

Express Mens is having a sale on their outerwear if you need something cheap and decent.  BB is a good place to check.  I'm a fan of Paul Smith / Varvatos / Ted Baker / Thomas Pink at the moment as well.  A lot of places are having end of winter sales so now is probably a good time to find a deal.

thanks for the tips! But the names you mentioned are all designer names, not brand names, right? btw, I'm in China, so I'd really like to see some brand names that have a presence in China physically.

You can't have the best for cheap. Those two brands are the most famous since they are the originators, no other brands are as well known known for the trench.

+1, Burberry. No one's telling you go to for the prorsum line. Their london line can be had for sub $700 on sale.

I'm in China as well. Problem with the famous lux western brands names like Burberry, Aquascutum, etc. is that one really gets gouged on their prices in the Mainland(paying for the name), compared to what one might be paying for them in the UK. Have a look at what some of the better Chinese brands have to offer, that's what I usually do.

But the OP doesn't want Burberry.

@OP: If you want something cheap and not pretentious, you could try London Fog.

Better quality: BB. Of course, BB isn't much better than Burberry if you consider that neither have held true to their roots.

Someone had a Brioni trench on the thrift board. I don't recall if they are selling or what size it is, though.
