This thread leads me to ask, why not such shoes at <$57?

I have those suede RL pennies (great shoes), and I believe they made them in regular leather. They're discontinued, but perhaps you can find a pair somewhere.

True. They are made in Italy and quite nice. I've seen them sold as a RLPL model as well as a RL (Blue Box) model. The model is the Horatio. I also think there was a Horatio II at some point. Another similar model sold around the same time was the Ralph Lauren Adamson available in snuff suede and calskin as well. Another nice made in Italy loafer that, when available online, could be found for very cheap. Unfortunately it looks like both of them are gone. The sporadic random size sometimes pops up on ebay on the cheap, but thats about it.

How about the C&J Merton or even the Sydney? You can find those well under $500

They both look fantastic, and I think I will most likely go with either one, but it looks like neither Pediwear, AFPOS, or Ebay have these at 7.5E UK at the moment

Is Plal the best price on. C&J Mertons and Sydneys?

If you're still looking, Ruelala has some very nice Moreschi's on sale today for $129.

Hope it's cool to add on here - what's the best option if I'm looking for something similar (sleeker penny) in a dark burgundy / oxblood?

Sleek, but I don't think 348 last is especially high vamp IME.  And interestingly enough, 348/358 in oxford form has higher vamp than in Chukka form...

Is the 341 higher in the vamp?

Try here for the Sydney in UK7.5. If you require assistance ask for Alastair. They'll be discounted 20% for the VAT. Shipping will be £12 - 25.

Try Bodiley's. Sarah is great.

Edward's has them also.
