Versatility of brown sports coat with blue windowpane?

Dear SF members: I'm looking for advise as to the versatility of a brown sports coat with blue windowpanes. I've seen examples of this coat on several SF members (example below) and I think it looks great; however, I usually see it worn in a more casual manner (i.e. no tie). In my minds eye, I'm having difficulty pairing non-blue ties with this jacket due to the windowpane.

Am I being OCD about the blues having to match? Can this jacket be worn well with other colored ties? Any examples? I have a pretty decent collection of suits, but my sports coats are lacking so I'd like to be able to mix and match ties/shirts with my next sports coat.

Cheers!

Think of a navy blazer or blue suit -- you wouldn't hesitate to pair other colors with that, would you? There's no need to match the windowpane. Just pick a tie that looks good with the coat.

Thanks! You are right, I don't know why I had that hang up.

Would anyone be willing to post pics of this theory in practice? Esp with jackets like this? It would hel me visualize.

Thanks!

That picture is a good example of the problem I have with brown sport coats. I have a skin tone similar to ghen's and I think brown tones blend in too much. Does anyone think that that is the case with ghen's picture?

I've seen this combination before, and even if isn't my favourite, it doesn't look bad.

Nope. I think there's enough contrast between his skin tone and the brown of the jacket to look fine, though it may be a problem with a different shade of brown. I sometimes have trouble wearing cream colored sweaters that match my complexion too closely, but a shirt in a bolder color helps frame my face.
