AE Cambridge (last 5) compared to Alden lasts

I am considering the AE Cambridge in Black Cordovan, but am unsure of what size to get, and don't have ready access to a try on. The best Alden last for me is Plaza and I am pretty much a perfect 10D in that last. I also am 10D in Hampton, but feel it is a little bigger that on my foot than Plaza last shoes. Barrie 9.5D is a good fit and 9.5D in Aberdeen, though it is not quite as perfect as the Plaza 10D fit. I have scanned old threads and haven't come up with anything definitive, and appreciate any help.

I'm a natural fit to the AE #5 9.5C. The Plaza 9.5C fits nearly the same for my foot. Same with the Alden Hampton.

If you're a 9.5D Barrie, I bet a 10D in AE's #5 last will be just about perfect.  I'm 11.5D Barrie and 12D in the #5 last.

Note that the #5 last is advertised as long & narrower - and it is.  But, it fits very well (on me) and looks fairly elegant.

Nice choice - I'm currently deciding between the burgundy and black Cambridge.  I really like AE's burgundy shell color, the thing that is giving me pause is that I already have the Strand in dark brown shell (which would be worn in many of the same situations as the burgundy Cambridge IMO) and a pair of burgundy MacNeil longwings (for slightly less formal situations)... I am currently leaning toward the black version for these reasons.

Good luck with yours!

I wear a 10D in the AE five last, a 10D in the Alden Plaza last and a 10D in the Alden Aberdeen last. I find the AE five last a bit narrower than the Plaza and the Aberdeen. The Cambridge is a great shoe.
