They were truly once the local Baltimore equal of the national Brooks Bros., and Brooks was a better place back then as well.

The Hampstead factory closed 8-10 years ago and all their production went to Mexico, etc. Before that, the factory had a true outlet store, open twice a week for 4 hours or so. My dad patronized the Oxford Shop and I went with him a few times.
He took me to Sam Glass (very inexpensive, most stuff piled up on tables) on Gay St. for my first suit, a sweet little wool/poly blend. bigstar[1].gif

Purchased the cedar hangers. Most of my hanger are curved, but the JFBs were flat except for the thicker version, which would take up a lot more room. Is there a problem with the slimmer flat hangers for sport coats? Also picked up 9 pant hangers, should have bought 30 since most of my pants are draped over the bars of standard hangers. I assume the pant hangers are the way to go.

I, too, own several pairs of JAB slacks and am quite happy with them. They make regular appearances in WAYWRN and cause no rioting.

Aaaah, the benefits of all your colleagues and family knowing you love Ralph Lauren. I suggest over the next year you slyly slip in conversations with close friends/relatives about things you bought at your favorite stores. "I just bought this really nice suit at Brooks Brothers, they call it Golden Fleece, paid quite a penny - but the quality is top notch." or "Have you checked out the sale at Ralph Lauren? Some pretty good blazers..." etc.. you get my point - but don't make it so obvious like, "Hey Jim, there's a sale at Paul Stuart I just bought this coat from there." Bring up the topics appropriately when the topic is at hand or can be switched over to if for instance someone glances/notices something you are wearing.

Basically, let your friends know, without blatantly telling them, what you want, if they are truly your friends they'll give it to you.
