Crockett & Jones Westbourne OR Gaziano & Girling St James II? Which do I choose?

Getting ready to start my spring shopping. Trying to make a decision for a new pair of shoes. Which will it be? C&J or G&G? Keep in mind the C&J shoe is half the price of the G&G.

Depends what you want the shoes for and how many other shoes you have for those occasions.

I am planning to get a pair of Westbourne's and also a pair of Drummond's, hopefully in the sales, instead of a pair of Edward Green's. Going for two pairs because I am planning to wear the shoes often, whereas I tend to buy EG shoes for less frequent use.

I reckon it's going to come down to fit and aesthetics - both of which are pretty personal.

In my case, I would go with G&G if the fit was good since:

  • I have plenty of C&J shoes and want a little variety
  • I prefer the look of the leather on the G&G

G&G is definitely better/cooler in my opinion. But I have never been a huge fan of that very continental style with a chisel toe and broguing around the laces.

Buy a pair of each.

Do a detailed analysis and issue a full report here.

Sell off the pair you don't keep - unworn shoes retain almost all of their value - so your experiment will cost you very little.

Your detailed contribution to the forum will be greatly appreciated.

the westbourne are on a more tasteful last than those GG in specific -- too aggressive

lf G&G fit you must get St James.
lt a perfect style last and perfect design,
it very very good.
lt not aggressive style in real life,
it very very elegant and full of good class.
Me wax me st james right now,
it gemmed but me like it very very much.
lt worth to pay double for G&G for bespoke style.

Nope, the same. Just the trickery of the iPhone.
