Perhaps you will find a more receptive audience over in the street wear and denim forum.

This forum is about classic tailored men's clothing not about what is in fashion right now or this season.

Not to be insulting but nobody on this forum is going to give any love to a polyester coat. As classic tailored men's wear is almost always made from wool/cashmere and other natural fibers because these fibers can wear beautifully for decades. Which is part of why it is important to select classic styles as you can expect to wear such a coat for many years.

There is nothing inherently wrong in a young man buying an inexpensive fashion coat in polyester if that is what fits your budget - we're just not your target audience.

I'm no expert on the names. But yes the one on the right is what we call and Ulster today (six buttons arranged vertically). According to some limited research I just did online it appears some call an Ulster with a belt a Polo Coat. But again, I'm not an expert on the topic so perhaps there are nuances I am not aware of that others may be able to point out.

By the way the illustration is from the Chicago Woolen Mills catalog of 1937. (Ain't the interwebz amazing?)

These are coats worth wearing and discussing with a surge of pride in ownership:

This on the other hand is a poorly made, cheap, paper thin facsimile of a peacoat.
In fact it is some form of hybrid jacket stylized to resemble a peacoat.

Since you have already purchased it, you have my condolences. This is in no way acceptable for sub zero temperatures.
If you are able to return it for a refund, do so immediately.
If the truth hurts, I'll try to be as nice as possible with these suggestions:
The only way to wear this and have even a hope of proper warmth is to wear a thick (and I do mean thick) shawl collared or crew necked sweater under it (and a layer or two under the sweater). Add to that a very colorful thick scarf , hat and some thick gloves. I would also highly recommend moving very fast when wearing it so as to generate as much body heat as possible.
Believe me when I say I am trying to be kind here.
Welcome to Styleforum and Merry Christmas.

Looks cheap, sort of thing one buys at the local indoor market for about 100-200 RMB, probably less on TaoBao.

I found this midweight wool overcoat about a month ago. Given the belt height, I tend to leave it unfastened and only wear it in a casual sense now. It DOES have some serious lapels.
