Also, I have found that it is almost natural for people to comment on anything that is out of the norm, or loud. It doesn't always mean it is of good taste, it is a habit people have.

Uh-oh, the chick I just bought a sandwich from complimented my "purple" shirt (a light blue to lavender, depending on lighting, BB GF).

Well, it wasn't my lady. The only person she makes sanwiches for is me.

Welcome. If you want to choose your clothes based on what draws the most compliments, then by all means do so - more power to you. You can be just like the guy that buys a Porsche because "chicks dig it" but doesn't know an apex from his elbow.

I on the other hand will continue to choose my clothes, and my car, based on what makes me happy.

But you're right, spending a lot doesn't guarantee you will look better than someone who spends little but spends wisely.

If I wanted compliments, I'd buy the shiniest square toe black shoes I could find, along with a shiny skinny lapel suit, a skinny tie and some ridiculous tie bar. people would probably be fawning.

No, this kind of guy would be wearing shiny burnished brown shoes with the same shiny black suit.

Never did I say I bought the coat for compliments. Don't go getting all therapist on me and try to read between the lines that aren't there. :)

Coat was bought. Compliments came in. It's very interesting that guys make so many negative statements about an honest account of compliments. But then again, I don't really feel compelled to qualify them either.

Feel free to post a photo of you in your most complimented coat. :)

It's okay dood, you made the classic noob error of premature thread origination. It can happen to anybody and it is totally okay.

Looks like a nice coat. It's hard to find great outerwear that's stylish and modern without being OTT. Sometimes BR and the like come up with a gem.
My favorite and best-looking trench coat was bought at BR for $49.00 several years ago. It had been returned to my local store from one elsewhere. The cut and quality of the coat is first-rate. The only alteration I made was to switch out the plastic buttons for genuine horn. Of all the significantly more expensive trench coats that I have, my deeply discounted BR coat is the one I reach for, consistently.

This and my Isaia brown with red/light brown plaid are my most complimented. I assume we are talking about SC's here?
Edit: I am actually curious to see what others post (I hope I'm not the only one :uhoh: )[/quote]

Jacket's a little big and the sleeves are quite long. Nice fabric.
