So I pulled my hamstring tonight. I was playing softball on Sunday night and midway through the second (last) game I felt a slight pull while running the bases. I wasn't able to sprint anymore, but was able to run at about 75% for the rest of the game so I knew it wasn't too bad. The next day it was a little sore but not bad. I didn't do any running since then, but I didn't feel it at all so I thought nothing of it today. Well I played a softball game tonight. Cold weather and all which wasn't good and I didn't stretch too much....but this has never been a problem. I've never had a pulled muscle before so it's virgin territory for me and the hamstring was feeling normal.
Anyways, first at bat I hit the ball well over the left fielders head for what should be a homerun. It's an open field (no fences) so I sprint to about second until I know he can't get it in time and I can coast into home. Well, between 1st and 2nd the hamstring goes out again. I have to finish the game (moving from ss to pitcher to minimize movement, but I can't move at all and a jog is the best I can do). So I've pulled it pretty good. I've been icing it as that's what I've been reading on the internet...but wanted to know if anyone else has been through this and if they know any methods on speeding up the recovery time on it.
