a question regarding chest size for parka's

ok i have a 40in chest with an undershirt. i am looking at ordering a parka, one of which is a 50" chest and the other is modified to a 44".

bearing in mind it's a parka and would be worn over a jumper, would the 44" still be the one to go for here ?

You have a 40 inch chest. Do you think a 50 inch clothing item will fit you?

no, but frankly measurements have always been a blind spot with me and being simple of nature and deeply feeble minded i thought i'd double check before purchasing.
