Need advice on boots!

I am looking for a pair of black boots.. I've always been kind of a sneaker guy and have very little experience with boots. My budget is roughly $100-200.. looking for a pair of boots that I can wear casually or dress up with..

I was wondering laceless boots are considered more formal or just a different style?

Here are a couple I've been looking at, but I'm not sure they're good picks since I don't know exactly what to look for when boot shopping.

If you're looking for a pair of black boots that can be worn casually and formally, look for Chelseas. I've heard nice things about Beatwear, but the center seam may not be to your liking:

Alternatively, save up a little more and get the same boot from Loake (Pediwear's a good site) or RM Williams while the AU-US  exchange rate is good.

IMO might as well spend a little more than that.

Also would these pass for casual? Something like this? Not sure I like the sides much, or that middle seam:\

As of right now, I just can't bring myself to spend 300-400 on a pair of boots when they're my first pair. I'm not even 100% I can rock the style yet, so I'm looking for a decent "starter" pair for 100-200. Neither of the ones I posted are any good? I really like the way the Bed Stu looks, though I have heard not-so-great things about quality.

That's the Loake I was talking about. If it's from the 1880 line, which I think it is, then it's a hell of a boot for the price.

Also, if by "dressing up" you mean wearing a suit, then yes, those boots will work. Just look through the pictures on the site you posted, they show them being worn in like 3 or 4 different outfits, looking bomb as always.

I like those, but really am not a fan of the elastic part. It usually sticks out the bottom of the pants and is completely visible, right?
