What is a good value in headphones that are in-the-ear and stay there while working out in the gym or running?

I've tried a bunch of them, Sennheiser, Nike, Sony, etc.

They all basically sound the same - I wouldn't bother spending a lot of time on this. Just buy any set that works for you.

Which ones feel the best when working out?

They all use the same mechanism G, the in ear gel or foam covers, so you just need to pick a pair and find an insert that feels comfortable in your ear. I can't stand them myself so I opt for over the ear phones. Old school Koss Porta Pro's.

I use these when running or in the gym. Earbuds that are not an over-the-ear design put a lot of stress on the connection between the wire and the earbud when you're running. I get about two years of workouts out of the over-the-ear kind before the connections start to go out.

I use Skullcandy that are similar in design to the ones in the pic ^^^. They're $19.95, have a great sound, and endure my long distance running and lots of sweat.

I used to use cheap sony ones (MDR-W08L) and had a pair last for 5 years but they stopped working and I bought two new ones each of which failed within a few months. Now I've been using these JVCs which seem to work well. They're comfortable, they don't fall out, and they don't appear to have the durability issues that plague the Sonys. Given the environment (gym, running outdoors, etc.) I prioritize durability and fit over sound quality - you can tell what you're listening to but certainly not an audiophilic experience.

The problem with sport headphones in general is that you can't try them on anywhere so it's hit or miss. I bought a few different brands that looked like they might work, and only the JVCs turned out to work for my purposes. Would be interested to see what you get and how it works out for you - please update thread if you find something great!

I know you already bought a pair, but thought I'd add my $0.02 in case anybody else was looking for something similar. I bought these Sennheiser earbuds a couple of months ago, and they fit and sound great. The earpieces are customizable and come with S, M and L pieces to get the best fit. I use them to run, and they're perfect. My only nit is that the earbud volume dial is heavy, and bounces when running, tugging at the earbuds and making it feel like they are about to come out. The piece is fitted with a clip though, so as long as you have something to clip it to, problem solved.

I suggest avoiding any isolating (earplug-style, "in-ear-monitor") earbuds for things like jogging outside.

2 reasons:
-Cable Noise: most isolating designs end up with a lot of noise that you can hear when the cable moves around. This is no big deal when you are sitting on the bus or just walking but when moving around more, it gets pretty bad (so it might be ok for lifting but not for cardio).
-Can't Hear: Being unable to hear your surroundings when you are outside is bad. isolating designs are like earplugs and when you add some music it gets even worse. If you can't hear someone ringing a bell or yelling "on your left", you are probably going to cause an accident sooner rather than later.

So for outdoor cardio, you should go with something that is either an over the ear model or a non-isolating earbud (apple earbuds are one but there are many others).

I tried these out and couldn't get the sons of bitches to stay in my ears properly.
