Sure the character is a smooth talker and that seven figure a year salary helps but I keep thinking this is ridiculous and unbelievable. Is it odd that I find the situation with his son to be the most compelling story line from the pilot? And Jean Ralphio! (bit of a shame he seems like a straight character in this).

Yeah too ugly to get all the girls. enjoyed the first episode though

Y'all are off the mark. He makes the point very well that women respond to power, confidence, and attitude way more than looks.

With enough money in his bank account he can bang any girl he wants. I enjoy the show but I think it's a little to cartoony (kind of like entourage at its worst).

That's what ugly people say!

FYI the idea that you can get ANY woman because of money/power is retarded and can only be made by someone who notices guys with money often have good looking girlfriends and extrapolates that they can have ANY good looking woman, which is stupid. That's roughly at the level of obtaining the service of a prostitute and concluding that any woman will give you a blowjob if you give her $100 or that all the men in California are going out with ugly women (with great racks) who look like a cross between cross-dressers and $20 blow-up dolls.

I didn't say a word about money, which kind of takes the prostitution thing out of the equation. I said power/confidence. If you don't know the difference, I can't help you.

I wanted to quote Joffrey's post as the primary one I was responding to but forgot, sorry about that (yours was for the the nasty little quip). However yours is equally dubious, especially in a society where, at a high level, money&power is so connected, and moreso if we're talking about a consultant who probably has way more money than average but only a little more power if any. I'm not sure there is as important a link to be made between power and confidence though. Not that this matter, I know this forum is 99,99999% males but can we stop assuming women are a monolithic block and that they want one thing (usually the thing most people here are aiming for). I mean we know there is an higher level than average income here (and a lower than average amount of social skills).

I think the second was better than the first. The whole bit where he fumbled with the girl from 'Dancing with the Stars' was hilarious. But yeah you are right - overall this show tries very hard. Its copying aspects of 'Hustle' and not the good stuff, just the element of story telling.

The show is not too clever either and definitely overdoes what consultants do.

Re read blog marley's post (which I was responding to - forget if I quoted it). I still stand by what I said.

Don Cheadle may not be Michael Fassbender but he (and the character) is certainly not a troll. Next, he's wealthy. Next, he has a high powered job. Next, he lives in LA. Next, he's a smooth talker (as the character is written). Next, he's a bit of a douche (not some wannabe igent). I don't see how one can't agree that he will be very successful with women - in general of course not EVERY woman will bend over on command for him. They may not be classy or wife material (as his ex on the show can attest), but that's not what Blog Marley was talking about.

Now, maybe Don Cheadle was miscast but it's not because of his looks.

and i think people are forgetting that this is a TV SHOW!!!

i thought it was a bad show. i hate the voice over narrations, breaking the fourth wall, and explaining terms that need not be explained to even the most dimwitted humans. flashy and no content
