Cracked/damaged leather?

I have a pair of pebbled leather Ferragamos which I purchased recently, and they seem to have cracks in the surface of the leather which I'd like to repair if possible.

You can see where creases in the shoes are the leather surface seems to be broken, right in the "veins" of the pebbled surface. Suggestions? The area is slightly discolored, and when I apply shoe polish, shoe polish does not remain in this area, which makes me think the surface itself has been broken.

In the two pictures you get an idea of what has happened, the discoloration between the leather surface and the cracks is actually much more noticeable than the pictures suggest. Please let me know what should be done!

Doesn't look cracked. I would give them a good clean and conditioning first before you cream/ polish them.

It appears you are using neutral polish. If so, remove it and never use that stuff again because it almost always discolours to off-white when the shoes are worn.

Thanks!

So if I use a different shoe polish I can restore the 'waxy' look of the leather to these areas?

They look fine to me, just normal creasing from wear. I assume you have worn them?

They look ok to me. Just a little extra light at the creases - this happens sometimes.

Looks like the polish is cracking in the creases. Probably because it's too thickly applied?

I would condition and buff heavily to move the existing wax around. Apply no new wax and see if they don't look better after a wearing.

amishelectric, if you're not already using a shoe brush, I'd suggest you do so. You can more easily remove the excess wax from an uneven surface like pebble grain with a brush than a rag.

I will say that the Saphir neutral is far less prone to this whitening phenomenom than Kiwi. The Kiwi neutral is just awful.
