"Saffiano" Leather

Does anyone have experience with Saffiano leather? It seems that Prada and Ferragamo are using this a lot in their goods. I'm considering picking up a brief made out of this stuff. Is it as durable as LV Taiga leather i.e. nearly indestructible?

Searching these forums, I found one prior thread that stated Saffiano is regrained leather that is coated, but I seriously doubt this since the prices on it are much higher than standard calfskin?

I know nothing about this particular leather. But all regrained leather is not inferior nor inexpensive.

The premium suppliers of upholstery leathers often emboss grains or other decorative surface treatments into full grain, full analine leathers. These leathers are thus actually more expensive per square foot than those that are not embossed as they entail much more labor/effort to produce.

I would assume the might be true for other leather types as well.
