malford of london thread is not there - ex affiliate. will it be added?
Yes. The threads are in slightly different sections. We had a switch in account managers, and they did things slightly differently, but alert us to any missing, and we'll locate, lock, and put the threads in the right section.

Cheers,

Fok.

It's because they aren't mentioned much around here. Maybe someone with first hand experience should start an Antonio Mura appreciation thread.

The name is Antonio Muro. I met Raffaele Muro in Florence during Pitti 87. He is Antonio's son, and seems to be both a tie maker and their sales rep. The company is really small. It's Antonio, his three sons and 3-4 employees. Company was started in 1970. They make ties and pocket squares. Ordered four ties in different constructions to evaluate. He carried quite a lot of vintage swatches. He was very careful to stress that this is "real vintage" from around 1955-70 or something like that (Raffaele does not speak English and the guy who translated was not very good at English either). We actually had a bit of a discussion about Passagio Cravatte, he was aware of them, obviously the tie makers in Naples knows about the "scandal" or whatever one should call it. He stressed that all his vintage classed silks were real vintage silks and not ink jet printed. They do make reproductions of vintage silks, but they never call it vintage in that case. Also, their vintage silk ties are about €50 more than regular silks.

I'll let you more and post pics when I get the samples.

"Real" vintage sample. According to Raffaele. :D I'm not an expert.

These look like the type of tie he would offer for sale, though.

Pretty sure I've seen the 2nd and 3rd from bottom in Gianni's samples.

What do you guys mean by those remarks, please clarify.

Raffaele said that Gianni had visited him a couple of years ago, before Gianni started up his company. Gianni had said he was a journalist and wanted to do an article about Muro. They later learned that he had started up a competing brand. When I asked how they felt about it I got a series of body language gestures I interpreted as frustration. Maybe embarrassment of being fooled... I dunno.
