Thoughts on Alfred Sargent Boots

I'm strangely drawn to these Alfred Sargent Boots.

Not being much of a boot guy, I'm actually going to consider the opinions of you goons 'round here.

I look at these once a week or so on the Shoe Healer site, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I really like them.

I don't find shoes or boots with grommets for laces to be very elegant or attractive myself. I also don't care for a combination of textures- smooth and pebble. There seems to be many other better boot options.

I own these boots and I am very happy with them. Very well made. Very versatile; they look great with both trousers and jeans. Very substantial, yet comfortable--leather is very supple out of the box. I would half-size down.

As for the poster above: only pebble-grain leather, not combination leather.

That's good to know--I was afraid they would be really stiff. Thank you.

OK-couldn't tell. That would make a big difference. I love pebble leather for shoes and boots. It has that classic English field shoe look.

I've seen a lot of boots recently mixing smooth and pebble or calf and suede. To me that combination is like finger nails on a chalkboard.

^I'm warming up to the contrast. T4phage's balmorals were the first pair I liked.

And I like these a lot. Wingtip boots aren't my favorites, but I like the dark color of these and the peak on the ankle. Of course, I'm most partial to the AS Miller boots.

I have a pair and they are in my opinion a great pair of boots

i like a brogue derby more than a brogue boot, but those seem fine. I'm a fan of grommets on rustic styles.

I'm kinda surprised at how much love wingtip boots have been getting around here.

Interesting, my pair has Dainite soles, not commando like this one. I prefer the former, but I live in a warm climate, so...

I would bet that the BBBF are made by AS.

Originally $650 on sale for $390. I would think they are a better value and are pebblegrain all over--which I prefer.
