In a foreign land...

Hey everybody!

Been following the forums for a couple weeks now - you guys are great, and I want to thank you all for this massive library of sartorial sensibility you've all contributed to!

Right now I am about to start a new line of work that requires shirt + tie everyday. I need to invest in a couple suits, first of all. I only have a couple nicer dress shirts and ties - I plan on picking up a few of these too (as well as rotating some of my not-so-dressy shirts, such as my blue gingham button-up, underneath my suiting. I like this look - what do you all think? Must a shirt be "dressy" to be worn under a suit?)

I come to you primarily to ask the following question:
I am going to be in Cabo San Lucas for a week, and I am wondering what items I should pick up to take advantage the cheap exchange rate + labour costs of Mexico.
However, are there some things I need to watch out for? Am I likely to come across knock-off suiting? Maybe I should just stick to basics and accessories, like ties and belts?
Any thoughts on what clothing to pick up in a foreign land are welcomed! And a gracias in advance!

Cabo isn't cheap. And nothing there is good.

Is that the final verdict?

It's a tourist town. You're not going to find a decent men's shop with reasonable prices there.

Where do you primarily reside? You're better off hitting some place with an after Christmas sale. Brooks Brothers will have such a sale and it has good work suits.

That's the paradox. If you want to buy nice high quality clothes at a reasonable price, you'll have to buy them in the USA or maybe England. In case you find something in a developing country, which might be difficult, it will probably be very expensive even for our standards.
I live in continental Europe, and I tend to buy a lot at American online stores... Even for items made in Europe. Discounts at American stores are way higher than those in most European stores (of course the rate €/$ is also very beneficial for us).

Yes. I don't know if you've ever been to Cabo, but it's a desolate wasteland in every imaginable way.

I live in Vancouver.
The ultimate for me would be a MTM Samuelsohn, but most places around here only have mtm events at specific times of the year. MTM never seems to be covered during other sale events, such as after Christmas sales, unfortunately.
