Interesting thread, my take on this:

1 Navy suit
2 White cutaway collar shirt
3 Light blue cutaway collar shirt
4 Grenadine navy tie
5 Black cap toes
6 Navy OTC socks
7 Navy patch pocket sports coat
8 Mid grey worsted wool pants
9 Brown punched cap toes
10 Navy suspenders

Might compliment with picture later on.

^Too much blue.

^ close to my list if you swap the navy suit for a charcoal grey though (and no patch pockets - not fond of them).

I happen to be quite fond of the color blue in various shades.
But I guess I could throw in a pair of dark brown suspenders and charcoal socks in there to switch things up slightly, a brown grenadine too:D

These are my "essentials" in that I wear some combination of the following 99% of my life:

Navy hopsack patch-pocket SC
White shirt (modified spread)
Pale blue shirt (modified spread)
Pale blue university striped shirt (OCBD)
Navy cashmere v-neck sweater
Fawn wool trousers
Canvas chinos
RRL low straight fit jeans
Snuff suede chukkas
Cordovan penny loafers

Should be noted I work in a business casual environment.

This is such an excellent thread, I make no apologies for bumping it.

My question is a little at a tangent, but concerns the 'essential' summer casual shirt.

Button-down shirts are not popular in the UK, but I've been persuaded that they do look much better worn tie-less.

The oxford cloth button-down is the quintessential button-down, with a nice long collar roll.

But oxford cloth is seen more as a winter / autumn / early spring shirting.  What is the quintessential summer cloth for a button-down?

Linen or linen/cotton blend. End-on-end linen is particularly nice. I suppose a lightweight chambray could work as well.

I heard that men buns are on the decline. I sure hope so. Unless you are a Samurai or Sumo wrestler, then it's cool bro.
