Okay, so I tried the new Savi last night, Peterson's holiday blend. First smoke with something other than the traditional fan/fisheye opening. Smoked very cool and dry. Edina, I did have the little piece of balsa in. It's not like what I thought a "filter" would be, just a little stick of balsa. I guess it helps absorb moisture and cools the smoke. Whether it was helped by the balsa or not, the draw is very cool. However, as this bowl has much thinner walls than my Peterson, the bowl itself felt much hotter.
A couple of questions for the pipesters here: smoker's tool. I just have the usual $1.50 one. Does anyone have a nicer one, whether a complete tool or just a nice tamper? Also, what is a Czech tool? Does it differ from a good old reamer (no homo)?
