The "One Suit": Favorite OTR Suit Cut? - Page 2

My favourite OTR cut is any model that can actually fit my frame. Finding it very hard to get OTR outside of Asian markets.

When I do find one that fits, my favourite model is:
- Minimal shoulder padding as anything more make my shoulders look ridiculous.
- roped shoulders
- Slim sleeves
- Waist suppression
- 2B
- Side vents
- Medium/lowish rise trousers (probably rise up to about 0.5" below my navel.
- 7.5" leg opening. 8" max.
- peaked lapels

Yet to find known brand one that fits me all that well.

I have a couple cuts I like OTR. Canali 14000 series drop 7/8, RLBL Anthony, and Z Zegna drop 7.

The Hound in San Francisco carries Samuelsohn, as does O'Connells.
O'Connells is pure trad, RTW. The Hound caries more contemporary styles, eg.
the Greenwich and the Talbot, that I know of:

Polo Ralph Lauren blue label. Just need some waist suppression and cuffs/hems. Feels and looks like MTM. If you're patient you can find them for ~$250-300 or less in perfect condition.

No alteration required for Phineas Cole, Boglioli and La Vera Sartoria.
Phineas Cole is the best value OTR for me, fitted yet not too tight.

I have been pretty happy with Z Zegna, that is until I came across Tom Ford.

When I first ease myself into a Tom Ford suit, I was floored, initially, by the feel of the jacket over the shoulders, over the chest, over the the back and feel of the cloth over the arms, under arms and how it extends to just over the wrist. The combination felt right. Without looking in the mirror at first, I was very very impressed by the feel. I must say it took me by surprise as I never quite felt a more fitting suit. Just by feel alone, I would rate it 9/10.

Subsequent glancing over the mirror, I could not believe how complementing the suit was. It is as if I was transformed into someone else. Broad strong shoulders, tucked in at the waist, the draping of the suit over the descending arch of the lumbar spine and sliding off the protruding curvature of the lumbosacral region.

In addition, in most of RTW suits, the sleeves always seems to be far too long. I was actually very surprised that the sleeves for Tom Ford were just right for me. Surgeon's cuff. Always longed for it and could not have done better in TF's suit.

Base A & B are ones I go for, and I never turned back since.
But I am so damn much poorer as a result. I still try other brand suits in hope of finding another that could yank me away from TF.
So far, in vain.
