The whole thing?

Cloth tape can do no wrong.

I'd just use a good damp rag and a brush...  then teach her the difference between calf and cordovan... and then teach her not to waterproof anything except hiking boots.

Hmmm, I bought Sno-Seal with the intention of waterproofing my cordovan boots. Afterall, I bought them to be winter boots. What is wrong with waterproofing them?

Cordovan is notoriously unpredictable when exposed to water. I'd watch out using them as snow boots...

Sno-seal will darken them, but have no other adverse effects.

Alden Indy cordovans. They seem pretty rugged. I purchased them to beat them up and use them in all weather.

I took my AE chromexcel boots to the AE store last winter and they immediately said I should waterproof them, even did it for me. I think you'll be fine.

I recently waterproofed a pair of blue cordovans from Leffot. Turned out nicely!

Nice!

I think too many people here bay their shoes. Shoes should be worn--especially boots! You are not supposed to feather dust your rugged, manly boots. If they don't have a few scratches and scuffs on them or if you are afraid to wear them in bad weather--you probably can't afford them.

The opening scene of Boardwalk Enpire comes to mind of even the second season finale where they are all standing in te rain in their bespoke suits and shoes with more important things to worry about than getting their clothes/shoes wet.
