New Years Eve attire: Share with us!

Hi all, I thought it would be fun (and helpful) to start a thread that people post in to show off their past New Years Eve attire.  Also, if you have pictures of others' attire that you have admired please feel free to post those pictures too.  That's really it, so I hope you guys will join in!

On a personal note, I'm going to be attending a house party this year.  I don't think there's really going to be a dress code, and I have a feeling a suit would be over the top for this party, so I'm trying to figure out what to do.  I'd love to hear some suggestions: I'm looking to be classier than a sweater/cardigan and a tie, but less formal that a suit.  Thoughts?

the colors would be important here

Anyone doing some sort of a blazer setup?  I was thinking about going that route...

For your house party, if it were me, I would wear a nice SC, shirt with no tie, festive PS, and depending on how formal the party either chinos or wool trousers.

For me personally, I am going to a late dinner with friends, and I am thinking of wearing a blazer (was going to go with a nice tweed SC but think I might end up too hot inside all evening) with pale gray flannels, a blue and white stipped shirt, and a mostly red PS. Still thinking over the whole fit though, so it may change between now and the 31st.

That sounds like what I was considering doing with the SC and chinos or trousers.  I'm not very experienced with the blazer game but I've seen it done wonderfully before so I think I'll see if I can't find some pictures in one of the WAYWRN threads to give me some ideas.  Alternatively if anyone has examples for me I'd love to see them!  :)

Will this house party consist of just you and your friends? If so, wear the suit if you like.

Actually it's a mix. There will be ppl from early twenties all the way through to late 40s. I expect I'll have met 75% of the attendees before, be at least "acquaintance-friends" with 50% and be good friends with 30% or so. I'm concerned that I'd be the only one suited up. I'd rather be overdressed than underdressed but I think a suit is likely to be too much in this instance.

Wear tartans.  Try to get a nice tartan sport shirt from RL, pair it with a blue blazer and wear some bright colored cords.  Can't go wrong with that.

Yes, and the event is New Years.
