Where are you going? What are you planning on wearing?
I'm off out to a restaurant with my better half and some friends. At the risk of being overdressed I will probably wear my plain grey SS Napoli. I don't often have much reason to wear a suit so thought NYE was as good an excuse as any

Top Of The Mark, at the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco this year.
I'll be in black tie. Armani DB jacket, Luxire or Proper Cloth shirt, no waist covering. Old formal trousers (that are due to be replaced, I think), black patent shoes. My wife will turn heads in a full-length, backless, blue sequined gown and Stuart Weiztmann "Nudist" heels.

I'm attending a dancey type of club, but have a bit of a rebel outfit in mind considering the venue.
- winter weight charcoal SC
- Navy lambswool cardigan
- contrast collar light blue shirt
- brown wool tie
- perhaps festive purple paisley or dark brown polka PS
- navy pants
- brown loafers
Outfit more to ensure warmth to and from, and with the same concern some of you mentioned - New Years almost always gets messy post midnight when champagne is mixed with other fine beverages. I am a whisky lover myself, and it never ends well when the bubbly is in the mix! Hope this helps!
