So, I have my wedding coming up in July and I have no idea what to wear on my feet. The budget is around 600 dollars however after doing a forum search I realize I have the handicap of living in the Toronto area. They have to go well with a charcoal suit and I am leaning away from wearing black shoes. I am a recovering sneaker head and looking to start my new "grown up" shoe collection with something nice that will pop and last.

If you're wearing a charcoal suit and are "leaning away from black shoes," I would suggest something in the burgundy, merlot of #8 shell cordovan color range. There should be many suitable options from companies like Allen-Edmonds or Alden in your price range. However, given the formality of the event, I suggest you go with black shoes. The Allen-Edmonds Park Avenue in black would be ideal and wouldn't exceed your budget. It would also be an excellent starting point for a "grown up" shoe collection.

My opinion is to go with black shoes for weddings. Black shoes will go nicely with either gray or navy suits. Again, black captoes will serve you well.
For the record, my regular daily attire usually has me leaning towards various shades of brown for footwear, but I would still go black for weddings, and other more formal events.
I wore a navy suit with black captoes last week to my wife's corporate Christmas party, evening cocktails and dinner.

The more formal the event, the more inclined you should be to wear black shoes.
Used to be the only acceptable color shoes for a navy suit was black.

I feel there is a distinction between the OP whose wedding it is and blackstone who is going to a wedding. If you are getting married in a charcoal or blue suit then black is the only choice for me however if you are going to a wedding I feel there is a little more room for alternative choices.

my regular daily attire also has me leaning towards brown. dont know why but black shoes doesnt really do it for me. i have shoes in all shades of grey, brown etc but only one in black.
i guess i'll be added another pair of black though.
cheers
Thank you so much for all the input, I really appreciate it. I think I am going to go with the cordovan perforated captoe from Brooks Brothers for my wedding. Our wedding isn't going to be all that formal so I am caught between burgundy or black, I will probably take everyone's advice and go black through.
