"Dress" Jeans for the Office

They have stretched a bit, I've probably worn them less than a dozen times, I would buy them tight.

Hmm, thanks. May need to rethink this; the 32 was just right in the waist, but if I went to a 31 the thigh would be too tight and probably wouldn't stretch enough. Plus I have a feeling that with their cut, ****** would appear to stick out excessively with the smaller size.

I don't get it and never have. Why not just wear flipflops and a T-shirt with your jeans and be done with it?

Flannel trousers wear like; well, flannel trousers right out of the box with no break-in needed. And for practical purposes, they don't fade like denim.

Tropical worsted trousers are warmer in winter and cooler in summer than denim which never feels that great when the thermometer climbs and that is doubly true when the humidity climbs above 60%.

Calvary twill probably wears harder than denim, while looking better and feeling better to your skin.

Then there is the odor thing; as wool rarely if every gets as rank as well worn cotton denim, and that is a fact.

Most importantly, denim has never looked stylish when compared to it's competition or used to cover anyone over 18 that is not located on an outdoor job site or college campus. It always comes up quite short in appearance when compared to cotton chino, Calvary twill, and even the cheapest and nastiest worsted; including the black and shiny poly blend stuff.

Here is the fact: wearing denim to the office may sound like a great idea, until someone else shows up in a cotton chinos, Calvary twill, worsted or flannel trousers and steals your thunder and eats your lunch, all while feeling more comfortable and at ease.

They will probably also get better tables than you at your favorite restaurants.

Wear what you want, but you have been warned.

A nice pair of jeans may be appopriate for your office, but the idea that jeans -- or chinos for that matter -- can be 'Dress' is a complete myth.

Recently did this and someone was like, "Don't you usually dress up more".

Last time I do the jeans in the office thing. Although it can look slick and sharp it's just not dressy.

I wore my APC's to work on friday with a blazer/shirt/tie combo and a client who is a criminal defense lawyer who only buys the boxiest fitting suits in the most boring colors, with solid color ties actually said to me, "Sell me your whole outfit, I don't own a single pair of jeans, and I think this look would be good to kick start my friday night dating life"

Apparently he hadn't had a date in some time, as law school then professional life had left him with little time. I asked him what he wore in his time off or around the house and looked around to see if anyone was listening "Crocs and sweatpants"....

Coming from someone who has purchased no less than 10 suits from me in the past year alone, and fessed up that usually when the oil change is due in his BMW, he just trades it in.

He left with a few APC's and JBrand Kane's that fit him great...

Some of my co-workers were also puzzled that I own denim as well!

I wear primarily raw finished denim to the office with a blazer.
The 514, with a wider leg opening and a lower rise, works best for me.
I also wear straight leg selvedge from Gap and APC New Standard that I wear to the office as well.
