Opinions on a windopane suit - (Business appropriateness)

Good day gents, I've recently picked up a beautiful (in my opinion) blue-grey windowpane suit and wanted to gauge your thoughts regarding how appropriate this would be in a conservative (middle/front office) setting. I definitely will not hesitate to wear it, but would like to know what people really think.

The reason I am asking the question is because once I picked up the suit after the alterations, I've realized that the pattern is somewhat less subtle than it seemed when I first tried it on. I think it will still work with a white shirt and an almost solid burgundy/rust tie.

The suit is from Tiger of Sweden and is made out of thicker wool (could not give you the weight though). The fit is slim and impeccable (I am 6'1 and 160 lbs. and fitted suits generally look well on me). The thicker wool would also allow pulling this off as a sports coat without looking like an orphan.

The photos do not do this suit justice, but here they are. Any comments / criticisms / snide remarks are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Nah, you should sell it to me. If not, then it looks great.

Pattern looks fine, but why are there two boutonnière holes?

I assume it is new?

It will suffice for much of business - you do not tell us which to consider so no more precise response is possible.

How come I had never heard of Tiger of Sweden until this week and all of a sudden there are multiple posts about this brand?

The business is consulting to institutional asset managers - fairly conservative.

I believe they've been around for a while, but only started making fitted suits circa 2000. Most of their suits retail for 600-700, this one was originally priced at twice that much (because of the fabric, I am guessing).

Would not wear this suit as a consultant in a conservative business environment. Not so much the cloth as the style of the lapel, collar and the two buttonholes on the lapel. It's not a business suit. Would be better if the windowpane were more subtle.

I first saw Tiger suits around 1980.

I'm not a fan of the thin lapels and wondering about the double button hole, but the fabric is obviously nice and the windowpane is fine. If it fits well wear it!

Depends how conservative you mean, but I think the thin lapels and double buttonholes are a far bigger issue than pattern.

I would have to agree with this - what do those you meet wear? That is a far better yardstick than anyone here trying to guess and proffer an opinion..

the lapels seem a bit thin but the suit looks good

Seeing as how you are already asking yourself the question (i.e. there is a doubt): those are the types of suits I leave for casual Fridays and not the suit I'd wear to meet someone for the first time. Or perhaps for those days where you're at your desk or just meeting your own team - I reckon they think you're a rakish dandy anyway so they won't care.

As others pointed out, it looks fashion forward too.
