Here are a few suggestions on well made Italian shirts with some background information on the brands.

Luigi Borrelli started manufacturing shirts with one basic principle in mind: to offer a product with a perfect fit. Borrelli accomplishes this by utilizing the same hand-stitching techniques once responsible for making the legendary Neapolitan shirt makers famous. The Borrelli technique of producing a shirt with the human hand takes the place of the machine, creating an absolutely comfortable and special shirt.

The Italy based Finamore has been producing expertly crafted shirts since 1925. The unique refinement and austere elegance have remained unchanged over time. The constant search for textile quality, attention to detail and soft wearability assures a simple and refined style. The Finamore shirt owes its uniqueness to the patience, passion and attention to detail that define the best of the Neapolitan tradition. Master shirt-makers and gifted embroiderers craft every detail. Finamore Shirts: For Gentlemen of Distinction. Custom-made, hand-stitched, and with that unmistakable attention to detail that defines style.

In 1964, Antonio e Vittorio Barba decided to open a small facility to produce artisan shirts. Their decision was born of a passion to provide quality garments for the elegant man. Initially, all the shirts were produced for a limited number of customers, the Neapolitan VIP. However, soon the Barba brothers' reputation for elegance and style was known throughout Italy. The secret to their success lies in the skilled cutting techniques, attention to detail and the use of refined fabrics.

The cut of the shirts is exclusively finished by hand.

The front and the reverse of both the collar and the cuffs are perfectly aligned in the lines.

The sleeves are hand sewn, like in the best tradition of the Neapolitan tailors.

The back and front side of the hips are perfectly aligned.

The placket seam follows the fabric lines.

The gusset, the small white taffeta triangle that joins the back to the front, insures more life to the shirt.

The buttons are of the best quality Australian Mother of Pearl.

As a final touch, the shirt is dampened and hot ironed to give the shirt a softer finish.
