I've put on about 25 lbs (mostly muscle) in the last year or so, and as a result I've had to replace my entire wardrobe.
While I've grown substantially horizontally, I remain below average height (5'9 if I'm standing perfectly straight).
I get MTM shirts, and a size 40 jacket can usually be altered to fit me just fine.
I'm having no luck whatsoever with sweaters though, as they only seem to be made in fixed sizes (S,M,L,etc.)
Smalls are out of the question. The sleeves usually pull down, and they tend to fit so tightly that the seams will rip.
Mediums tend to fit properly in the shoulder and arms, but wind up bunching up around the waist / hip area.
I've tried a whole lot of brands, and they all seem to have the same basic problem.
Short of learning how to knit (or convincing my wife to do it for me), are there any good options? I'm willing to pay up to $500 or so for something of good quality. I'm looking mainly for light to medium weight sweaters (the kind you might wear under a sportcoat), but heavy chunky knits would be interesting as well.
