Many of the elements go against prevailing SF groupthink -- strong shoulders, moderate gorge height, relatively high roll -- but I'd like to see more of this sort of thing. There's room for both A&S and Huntsman, as it were.
Truth be told, this is more my speed than the NSM stuff currently en vogue, though that's not meant to slight the NSM stuff. Just personal taste.
I love how the gorge and the collar points are the same height. That's my ideal.

The fit of the Prince's jacket is pretty good, although the lines could do with a bit more flow and his substantial shoulder pads, which you can see breaking the line of his shoulders on either side, are a bit much for me (queue the "shoulder pads make a man look powerful" crowd.) The front balance of his jacket is also short, unless his posture is normally a bit stooped and he's standing up straighter in the photograph.

I'd agree with your assessments. Re: the balance, the prince has always tended to be a bit slouchy, though maybe his time in the military has changed that. But I would guess he's standing at rigid attention here. After all, it's a WAYW shot.

In doing the direct comparison, it's worth noting the difference in builds. William is tall and thin, tending to the lanky. This suit makes him look more imposing than he is. I would like a bit more roundness to it, but it's a judgment call. One might argue that I err on the side of too much fullness.

Well, in the defense of the Turnbull (which I think, but I'm not sure, made these suits MTM for him), you'll see that he's got rather wide hips, which on a lanky guy dude can make shoulders look narrow. Padding out the shoulders like is done in his jacket also affects the chest expression, adding a bit of extra flat real estate there...the narrow lapels emphasize this linebacker-y affect even further. It would look more balanced with a bit wider lapels.

Overall, though, it's a good, traditional English look. We wouldn't put the future King in Italian clothes, now would we?

smile.gif My photograph is older than his photograph. And when my suit was made, he was still a teenager.
