--> witty introduction <--

[void]

So the idea is like this, a thread where you can post about art stuff (more or less related to fashion) and other things that don't really fit into the existing threads, be it books, paintings, music, women's fashion, poetry, the intrinsinc beauty of taped seams, architecture, carpet weaving, photography, furniture design and design altogether, the sartorial value of wind... Anything goes...

This is however NOT a thread about your fleeting thoughts, your mighty wallet and weak will,your varied inspirations (overlaps expected), how you'd like a girl to dress, how you'd like a code for that store that doesn't offer free returns (how rude) , how succulent succulents are, how much you'd like those droolific boots or sneakers, your bombastic cinematic knowledge ...[list to be continued]

This is a fragile thread. Be gentle.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

* I've no idea where this is going

* I've no idea for a thread title, awaiting suggestions

* I will rule with an iron fist (in an object dyed glove)

I already posted this earlier but wathever... I find this fascinating, the disarming simplicity of the effect compared to its visual complexity, the abstraction, the fact that it's more than 100 years old, the hand-painted film...

this is a thread where we DON'T talk about certain topics, and where we discuss certain topics that AREN'T discussed already. version 2. from a familiar face: --------------------------- Perhaps you've been looking for a way to evoke fan-shaped paving stones in a handkerchief. Perhaps they remind you of your country home or your days strolling the city promenade. Something like this:

Look no further. This sturdy Danish cotton fabric is just what you need. White and ivory "stones" rest on a ground of muted silver. The stones are about 5mm across. Something of a nice alternative to a white square. This is a fairly resilient cotton and not too flimsy. I should be able to get another two to three squares out of this. Please PM if desired! Sorry for the awful blue cast in the photographs. You get the idea.

Normally not big on modern homes but:

Unlike some of those crazy "destination" homes that rely heavily on surroundings etc., I feel like this home could exist in a relatively urban setting (and it does, in Brazil). Also, it might be the incorporation of wood into the modern design that helps.

Friends, I can't seem to be able to edit the title. I'm afraid we may be stuck with that interstitial ersatz for a while.

(briza, did you thumb up my 'RESERVED' post ? lol: Your confidence vote is well appreciated !)

Yes, Let's Not Talk About is the mother of all threads that are worthy. I long hesitated between keeping figthing the good fight over there and starting anew.

“In the soft grey silence he could hear the bump of the balls: and from here and from there through the quiet air the sound of the cricket bats: pick, pack, pock, puck: like drops of water in a fountain falling softly in the brimming bowl.”

I know there's a Stylish Films thread, but this isn't about the clothing. It's about movement and the feeling the scene creates.
