Can an informed member please explain the difference (via photos would be best) the difference between tickweave, nailhead, birdseye and sharkskin fabrics?

Birdseye is a circular pattern

Nailhead is a bit jagged and not circular but very similar to birdseye in appearance

Sharkskin is made on a twill weave using contrasting yarns, lighter and darker

Not sure how to explain tickweave.

From an online textile source,

Tic weave; Fabric with a small allover pattern or texture, often using 2 contrasting colors.

Have you looked into one of the many textile books that define the weaves and patterns?

no, can you recommend a good book?

Google Textile information, definition, dictionary, encyclopedia, etc and you will find reference info. Go to a library.

Anybody wanna take a stab at this fabric? Kind of a nailhead, but not quite. Thoughts?

Villarosa's book, The Elegant Man, has a great opening chapter on fabrics, with a good thirty pages of clear photographs and concise descriptions.

It's out of print, but worth seeking out used if you're into this sort of thing.
